I have used Alderwood tree care several times now, they have really impressed me with their standard of work and I would not hesitate to recommend them. On this occaision they thinned a very large birch tree in my vegetable plot. The tree looks much better now, they logged all the wood for me and cleared up afterwards so that it was hard to tell they had been there at all. They even put a protective cover over my delicate veg to avoid any accidental damage. I was also very impressed with their knowledge of tree care, the very high standard of health and safety that they excercised and the accuaracy of the felling.

We employed Alderwood Tree Care to reduce the height of a very large lime tree, remove several substantial branches from a silver birch which overhung a garage and cut back many overgrown shrubs in our rear garden. We have employed quite a few tree surgeons in the past and I can confidently say that Alderwood have been the best we have ever used. First, the lime tree was cut and shaped to perfection and the large trunks and branches that were removed were done so with an absolute minimum of damage to the garden and grass underneath (this contrasts strongly with another firm we had previously employed who simply dropped chunks of wood onto the garden beneath destroying plants and shrubs in the process). The birch was in an awkward position over the garage but the removal took place more or less flawlessly and the overgrown shrubs were trimmed really well and all now have a pleasing shape. Lastly the cleaning up after each days work was carried out scrupulously – in fact they cleared all of the back garden – including leaves and other winter detritus – leaving it looking the best we have seen it for a number of years! There are many pitfalls in employing tree surgeons but you can have confidence in Alderwood – a truly professional outfit.

I wish the following to serve as a recommendation with regards to the skills and efficiency of Alderwood Tree Care, in the work they carried out for me in the pruning of a beech tree in the back garden of my home in Chorlton. I had previously contacted a number of tree surgeons who had seen the tree and its situation and refused the work as too difficult. The beech tree was more than 70 feet high and came at the junction of three gardens, with a tiled roof garage, a wooden garden shed and wooden pergola and fence in the respective gardens surrounding the base of the tree, thus providing a problem for both access and dropping branches on a tree of such a size. I was extremely impressed by the expertise and skill Matt and Seth displayed in dealing with such a difficult job, as many of the branches were as big and heavy as small trees in themselves. Suffice it to say, they removed all the major branches without any damage, cut them all up, shredded the smaller branches and tided up all three gardens with the utmost efficiency. I was extremely impressed by the skill, professionalism, and manner with which they undertook their work and would, without hesitation, highly recommend them.

Alderwood Tree Care took down a willow tree in my back garden that had got too high (30ft+) to a more sensible height (15ft). They turned up on time with a vast range of kit and proceeded to make the job look very easy! The guys were very pleasant and left my garden clean and tidy. Called Alderwood Tree Care for a quote to remove a large overgrown Willow Tree. Matt gave a reasonable quote so I immediately booked them in. Matt and Rob were punctual, efficient and tidy, removing the large trunk and branches and tidying up after themselves. I was so pleased with the outcome that I booked them in again to cut back overhanging branches from a neighbour’s garden, shaping a blossom tree closer to the house and removal of a Conifer at the front of the house including all roots. The Cheapest quote by far… Excellent work – everything tidied up afterwards – and because the root came out easier than expected – trimmed my other privet hedge for free! They don’t do regular maintenance gardening but did give me the name of a local man who does.

We’ve used Seth and Matt at Alderwood every year since we moved into our new house (with big garden). They’ve provided objective advice about what needed to be done and what was ‘nice to have’ later, and gave us a fair price for the work. Admittedly not necessarily the cheapest, but I’ve used cowboys before and suffered badly. Recently (Oct 14), we had two trees taken down by the storms which they made safe and chipped/logged for us (we wanted to keep the spoils); they were still tidying up despite the fact is was dark outside! They turn up when promised, work hard, and leave the place as you’d want it. As I say, I wouldn’t use anyone else!
